Shih Tzu / Mixed (medium coat) Dog

Chiffon Cakes the Dog needs a home

NYS Needs Better Dog Laws!
Chiffon was born about September 30, 2010 and weighs about 12 lbs.  She is the sweetest thing, just a bit shy at first, and we are so happy that she made it here so we can find him a home that she has been cheated out of for her entire life! Chiffon (we call her Su-Su) came to us from a puppy mill right here in Western New York!  Yes, it's legal in NY to stack caged dogs one on top of the other and the cages be just big enough so the dog can stand, turn around, have a bowl for food and a water source attached to the side of the crate and as for the waste...these dogs are standing on wire bottom cages so the waste can fall into the pan below like a rabbit hutch.  This way the dog is only handled to be taken out of it's cage and placed with a breeding mate so they can produce cute product for pet store shelves.  The buildings or bars they are housed in do not need to be heated or cooled.  Because dog's feet are larger, than rabbits, and they have more weight (especially the Cocker breed) their feet become splayed and they can, throughout life, have occasional "puppy mill foot" where painful blisters appear between the toes and antibiotics are required to reduce the inflammation.  We will be having their teeth cleaned, but sometimes they are so very bad that it will need to be repeated relatively often.  We need five special humans to come along to welcome the five lucky ones that were released from the brutality of their captor.  We know you are out there and we save them because we know that you will save them.

When rescued from the puppy mill, Su-Su came into our rescue very pregnant and on November 24th had her 2 healthy pups in a loving foster home.  Her pups have been adopted, and now it's her turn!  Su-Su has limited vision/eye sight out of her left eye (likely because in the puppy mill she had never been groomed and hair was growing into it) but appears to see ok out of her right eye. She is happy, healthy, calm, affectionate, well adjusted, very good with cats and other dogs and has a great start on house training.  She is ready to start her new life of being loved and pampered with her very own and first forever family!
